Biologics

Biologics at Twin Rivers Periodontics are used to support the body’s natural healing processes following certain periodontal and implant procedures.

Enhanced Healing With

Regenerative Biologics

Biologics are medical products derived from natural sources, such as human or animal proteins, and may be used in certain procedures to support healing and tissue regeneration.

Dr. Molina may use biologics containing growth factors derived from your own blood to support healing and tissue regeneration following procedures such as gum grafting, bone grafting, or dental implants. These materials are commonly used in modern periodontics and are selected based on clinical need.

What Biologics

Do We Use?

Dr. Molina likens the use of biologics to an energy drink. After a procedure, your teeth are tired and need energy — the biologic is the Red Bull that gives them that energy.

He uses different biologics depending on your mouth:

  • PRF

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) comes from your own blood. We spin it in a centrifuge to concentrate the good stuff your body already uses to heal. It’s often used during procedures to help everything recover more smoothly.

  • Gem 21S

Gem 21S is used in areas where bone has been lost. It combines a growth factor with a collagen base to help support new bone where needed.

  • Emdogain

Emdogain is used in certain gum procedures to help rebuild the support around your teeth. It’s especially helpful when we’re trying to restore areas affected by gum disease.
