Nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, is a mild form of sedation used to help patients feel more relaxed during treatment. It works quickly and wears off soon after your visit, making it a convenient option for many patients.
Dr. Molina uses nitrous oxide in a controlled setting and will determine if it’s appropriate based on your medical history and level of anxiety.
Nitrous oxide:
Most patients can drive themselves home following nitrous. Nitrous gas is safe, gentle, and effective for reducing dental anxiety.
If you would like help with relaxing, we can give you a sedative pill about an hour before your procedure, which produces a deep level of relaxation. Patients are usually awake but dozing and less aware.
This technique is very safe (even if you doze off), and you will be monitored throughout your visit.
This type of sedation will leave you drowsy, and you must have someone drive you home from your dental appointment.
Oral conscious sedation is suitable for longer procedures and anxious patients.
