Gum Grafting

When gum tissue recedes, it does more than change how your smile looks—it can put your teeth at risk. Dr. Molina uses gum grafting to protect exposed tooth roots, strengthen vulnerable gum tissue and support your teeth’s long-term stability.

Treating Gum Recession

If your gums have pulled back and exposed the root of a tooth, Dr. Molina will likely recommend gum grafting. Exposed roots are more vulnerable to sensitivity, decay and continued tissue loss than the harder crowns of your teeth. Grafting covers and protects the roots, preventing the recession from progressing further.

Improving Long-Term Gum Stability

Healthy gums need enough thickness and strength to withstand daily stress. Dr. Molina can use gum grafting to thicken thin tissue and create a more durable gum line around your teeth. This helps reduce the risk of future recession—especially if you have naturally thin gums or a history of gum disease.

Protecting Teeth Before Damage Worsens

In some cases, Dr. Molina may use gum grafting as a preventive treatment. It can be used to protect teeth that are at risk but not yet badly damaged. By intervening early, grafting can help prevent root decay, reduce sensitivity and avoid the need for more complex treatments later.
