EXPERT

Bone Grafting AND Implant Preparation

Dr. Molina uses bone grafting to restore the jawbone density needed for stable, long-term implant success.
After a tooth has been lost or extracted, the jawbone that surrounded it begins to resorb back into the body. Dr. Molina takes a very common and safe grafting material called “allograft,” which is donor tissue that has been carefully processed and sterilized, and applies it to the area. The allograft serves as a scaffold that supports the growth of new, healthy bone. After a few months, the site is ready for permanent implant placement.

When extracting a tooth to be replaced immediately by an implant, Dr. Molina provides bone grafting at the same time as implant placement to streamline the process and ensure a fantastic result.

What is

Sinus Augmentation?

A sinus augmentation is needed when there isn’t enough bone in the upper jaw—especially in the back teeth area—to safely place a dental implant. Sinus augmentation is a more complex procedure than a standard bone graft, which is why it’s best to have an expert periodontist like Dr. Molina perform it.

Use of Biologics to

Enhance Healing

To improve and accelerate healing after bone grafting or sinus augmentation, Dr. Molina incorporates biologics such as platelet-rich fibrin (PRF), Gem 21S and Emdogain. These growth factors help you regenerate bone, soft tissue and connective tissue more effectively than without them, while also reducing post-operative swelling and discomfort.
